Lewis Hamilton has been caught speeding in France. The British Formula One driver was reportedly caught at 196 km/h (122 mph) in his Mercedes last weekend near the northern town of Laon.

Hamilton was stopped by police, had his car impounded, fined 600 Euros (£430) and has had his driving license suspended for one month. A police spokesperson said, “He was very polite and co-operative.” It is understood that Hamilton has already had someone pick up his car from the car pound.
