The manufacturers in Formula 1 have submitted their engine proposals to the FIA in the hope that their plans will be improved.

Representatives of Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Williams, Renault, Toyota, BMW and Honda have agreed on new engine rules for 2010 onwards and they hope their plans are in line with the FIA’s pushes for a more environmentally sport and a reduction in development costs.

Rather than having new engines for 2011, manufacturers are hoping that the rules will remain similar to current rules in exchange for using the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) and fuel-flow restrictors in time for the 2010 season. Engines will also be expected to last for four races, rather than two.

Mario Theissen of BMW has confirmed that all the manufacturers had come to an agreement and signed the document which has now been submitted to the FIA for approval. “The manufacturers’ proposal went to the FIA last week,” Theissen confirmed. “We don’t have a response so far.”
