Fisichella Receives Penalty for Blocking Yamamoto

In what has already been a controversial weekend, Renault’s Giancarlo Fisichella has joined Fernando Alonso in receiving a five position penalty.

The Italian badly blocked Spyker’s Sakon Yamamoto during yesterday’s Qualifying Session. The Japanese driver, attempting to complete his second flying lap on his debut with the Spyker team, was held up for most of his lap behind the Renault. This left the Japanese driver 22nd and last.

Giancarlo Fisichella, who qualified eighth, now starts from thirteenth position on the grid, behind Alex Wurz and ahead of Felipe Massa who struggled with a number of issues.
