McLaren lose Spanish sponsor

The Spanish insurance group Mutua Madrilena will not be sponsoring McLaren for 2008 onwards. The Spanish company began their sponsorship of McLaren last season, coinciding with the joining of Spanish driver Fernando Alonso.

Mutua Madrilena have said that their decision not to sponsor McLaren any more was not down to Alonso’s decision to move teams and that they had already decided not to continue with the sponsorship deal in November.

Mutua Madrilena first sponsored Renault in 2005 when Alonso was still with the team. It is not yet know whether the Spanish company will continue to sponsor any of the other Formula One teams.
