Webber Warned After Speed Incident

Red Bull’s Mark Webber has been reprimanded for his collision with Scott Speed during Friday’s practice at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

During the free practice session ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix, Webber slowed through turn eight causing the American driver to accelerate into the rear of his Red Bull. The stewards analysed the incident and felt no action needed to be taken, although the Australian driver has been warned to keep a low profile for the rest of the race weekend.

“The Stewards after hearing the explanation of both the Competitors’ representatives, the drivers and seeing video evidence, find that the incident of the collision itself requires no further action. But Mark Webber is reprimanded in respect of his actions on entry to the corner immediately prior to the collision,” said an official statement.
