Bidders emerge for Super Aguri

Another potential bidder has emerged for struggling team, Super Aguri. Super Aguri have been facing some financial problems over the past year and several rumours have cropped up suggesting a buy-out.

Last week, an Indian consortium led by the telco group Spice Group confirmed that they had an interest in buying into the F1 team. Speed TV have now reported that a Russian consortium may also be looking to buy into the F1 team as they struggle to prepare for the 2008 season.

The drivers for the 2008 Formula One season have yet to be announced due to the financial difficulties at the team, however it is almost certain that Super Aguri will be sticking with their 2007 pairing of Anthony Davidson and Takuma Sato. A formal announcement is expected on 19th February when their new car is launched.

The actual situation of Super Aguri is a real shame. I just can’t believe that a team that show so much courage and potential with so little is having so much trouble to atract major sponsors. I hope that the team, instead of a buyer, gets a major player with deep pockets to keep the team going on Suzuki Aguri’s very capable hands.

I wonder just how much influence Honda have over the sponsorship deals that Super Aguri get.

I would imagine a great deal, but surely that’s the last thing they should be worrying about?
