Etihad Airways to sponsor Ferrari

F2008Ferrari have announced a new sponsor for the 2008 season – Etihad Airways, the national airline for the United Arab Emirates. The Ferrari team already have strong links to this particular geographical region, having started to build a Ferrari theme park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

Luca di Montezemolo said, “We are pleased to enter into this new partnership that reinforces our links with the United Arab Emirates. The collaboration with Etihad Airways is in addition to that with the Mubadala Development Company who are already a sponsor and shareholder of the company. Then there is Abu Dhabi where the first Ferrari theme park is being built on Yas Island.

Etihad Airways were sponsors for the Spyker F1 team during the 2007 season. The new contract with Ferrari will see them sponsor the Formula One team for three years with their logo featuring on the back of the rear wing of the cars, on the tuning vanes, and also on the drivers’ helmets.
