Ferrari fined over pit-stop incident

Ferrari have been fined 10,000 Euro for Felipe Massa’s pit-stop, with the Brazilian driver receiving no further punishment.

Massa’s victory in Valencia was in doubt after stewards announced they would be investigating his second pit-stop after he was released into the pit-lane at the same time as Sutil was passing his pit-box, with the pair almost clashing.

The stewards have deemed that the pit-stop release was dangerous although no sporting advantage was obtained, therefore the team have been fined 10,000 Euro and have been reprimanded for the incident.

I’m sure the FIA’s (or stewards) penalty would have been more severe if it were McLaren in the place of Ferrari in a similar incident.

I completely agree with you. Lewis Hamilton had an amazing drive and the last four laps of the race were brilliant. He did nothing wrong. After he made his mistake, he allowed Kimi to pass. Then due to Lewis’s brilliant driving he overtook him. Fair. How the stewards can allow Massa’s mess up on the last GP to go with a pathetic fine is unbelievable. I think a full investigation should be put forward to see why on earth the Stewards always seem to be in Ferrari’s pocket. Something slippery is going on.

This has to be the most outrageous thing that the FIA have done. It certainly smacks of favouritism for Ferrari! From the last race when Massa and Ferrari cocked up in the pit lane. They had enough time to impose a penalty during the remainder of the race. They didn’t do it! Instead they gave Ferrari a fine, whoopy doo! Now in this race, Hamilton drives out of his socks, is tapped up the rear from Raikkonen, (nothing happens), Hamilton is forced wide trying to overtake Raikkonen, uses the run off area, but allows Raikkonen back in front as per FIA rules. (the correct thing) Passes him ligitimately at the next corner, goes on to win the race fair and square. Raikkonen can’t keep it on the black stuff, (his fault nobody elses!).

What does Hamilton have to do? He is the best driver on the grid by a long way, or is this the FIA and Ferrari getting back at McLaren for the spygate saga. Sanctions and deductions imposed on McLaren this year seem to be particuarly one sided (in favour of Ferrari). Let Ferrari and there drivers win on the track and not the race stewards and FIA offices if they want to beat McLaren.

    Stick it to them Lewis!
