Kubica awarded Lorenzo Bandini trophy

BMW Sauber driver Robert Kubica is the latest F1 driver to receive the annual Lorenzo Bandini trophy.

Since 1992, the award has been handed out annually to an outstanding figure from the world of racing and is awarded in memory of the racing driver who lost his life after a horrific accident at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1967.

Kubica will receive the trophy from Bandini’s wife in their home town of Brisighella, probably around May. Kubica has been chosen thanks to his impressive form during the opening stages of the 2008 Formula One season.

Last year, Felipe Massa was the recipient of the award, and previous winners have included Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Jacques Villeneuve and David Coulthard.
