Nicolas Todt eyeing up Toro Rosso?

Nicolas Todt, son of former Ferrari boss Jean Todt, has played down rumours that he is about to step into the world of F1 by taking over at Toro Rosso.

Todt, who currently manages F1 drivers Felipe Massa and Sebastien Bourdais, is a co-owner of the GP2 team ART and many believe that thanks to his close ties to Formula 1, it is almost inevitable that he will make the step up from GP2 to F1 soon.

However, talking to Swiss magazine Motorsport Aktuell, Todt is keen to quash rumours of his imminent move to F1. “At the moment I am taking it one step at a time,” he explained. “I started with driver management; then we started ART, and now we are going into the Asian series. We have had successes but we have also had defeats. I have learnt a lot.

“I am lucky to have been brought up in this environment but people often draw hasty conclusions. Formula One teams cost a lot of money in addition to the actual purchase, it is about the means to keep the team going.

“As long as the regulations are as uncertain as they are now, it is not very interesting to have a team without a big manufacturer. I will keep my eyes open.”
