The chairman and CEO of Pininfarina, Andrea Pininfarina, has died. The 51 year old was killed in a scooter accident near the company’s HQ in Cambiano, near Turin. Initial reports have suggested that a car hit Pininfarina’s Vespa during his morning commute to work.

Pininfarina was the grandson of Battisita Pininfarina, the man who founded the firm in Turin in 1930. He leaves behind a wife and three children.

The Pininfarina SpA company has designed many iconic cars including the Ferrari Dino and Ferrari Testarossa, as well as numerous Fiats and Alfa Romeos.
