Safety Car rule shakeup for final race of the season

The controversial safety car rules look set to be amended for the final race of the season, allowing drivers to refuel at any point during a Safety Car period.

The Singapore Grand Prix reignited Safety Car rule controversy after the rules shook up the race order, allowing Fernando Alonso to take a race win, with Nico Rosberg coming second.

Next season, the Safety Car rules are expected to change and drivers will also need to stick to a minimum lap time as has been trialled during some free practice sessions this season. When the Safety Car is deployed, a yellow light will light up in the cockpit and drivers will have five seconds to acknowledge the light by pressing another button.
