Having tested a Ducati MotoGP bike last year in Valencia, Michael Schumacher has proved that he is almost as quick on two wheels as he is on four. Racing at the Pannonia-Ring in Hungary on Thursday, the former-F1 super-star finished third overall.

27 bikers took part in the 10 lap race, and although many were enthusiastic amateurs, there was some tough competition – amongst the riders were 2007 UIDM Superbike Champion Martin Bauer and IDM competitor Andy Meklau.

Schumacher, riding a 1000 ccm Honda superbike, dominated the qualifying, grabbing pole position, although it should be noted that neither IDM rider had timing transponders and therefore started the race from the rear of the grid. Despite his pole position, Schumacher decided to join the IDM riders and start the race from the rear of the field. From here, he fought his way through the field to finish third overall.

Schumacher’s quickest time was 2:01.309, around 0.6 seconds quicker than everyone but the IDM riders – the IDM professionals showed their true mettle and were around 6 seconds quicker than the rest of the field.
