A new Schumacher has joined the world of motor sport. Dubbed ‘Schumi III’ by the German media, Michael Schumacher’s son Mick has made his racing debut at a small karting event at the Sils circuit in Spain.

Schumacher is believed to have chosen a race in Spain over one in Germany to try and help reduce the media pressure. His son was also entered under the name ‘Mick Betsch’ – Betsch being the maiden name of Schumacher’s wife, Corinna – in an attempt to keep his true identity under wraps. The seven-time world champion did not attend the race – instead, Mick’s paternal grandfather Rolf was present.

Mick Schumacher finished his two races in tenth and eighth and is expected to tak part in the next three rounds of the competition.
