Singapore race organisers have apologised for the chaos which has surrounded the sale of tickets for the 2008 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix.

Tickets for the race went on sale three days ago, and each day has been a frustrating one for many fans trying to get their hands on tickets with the call centres swamped and the online systems unable to keep up with demand.

Race officials have yet to announce how many tickets they have managed to sell, however they have placed full page adverts in many newspapers proclaiming ‘We Are Sorry’ in large print.

“We know the frustrating time that many F1 fans have experienced over the past few days,” the ads continued. “The ticketing system has improved considerably, but there may still be some delays at peak periods.

“We apologise sincerely for the frustration and inconvenience that the system problems have caused. Rest assured we are doing everything possible to improve the system further.”
