Matching the Mclaren's race pace was never going to be a realistic possibility for Kubi.
The qualifying pace proved they have made substantial leaps with the package.
However a race and qualifying setup are worlds apart, the two extremes cant be summed up by what if's?
Obviously a single race isn't a clear result, however the margin between pole and second in Australia, was small enough to convince myself that this gap has been reduced.
