Sato eyes RBR reserve seat

Super Aguri refugee Takuma Sato is rumoured to be in negotiations with Red Bull chiefs to secure a reserve driver role at Red Bull Racing or Toro Rosso.

Sato, who vied alongside Sebastien Bourdais for the second Toro Rosso race seat, emerged as one of the more likely candidates to join Sebastien Beumi at the team because of his financial backing and sponsorship.

But when the Faenza-based outfit announced they had signed Bourdais Sato found himself without a drive for the second year in a row.

Autosport.com has reported however that the Japanese driver could be being lined up for a reserve role at one of the Red Bull backed teams.

“He has a good reputation in Japan,” Mateschitz told autosport. “He could work with us very well”.
