David Daroczi, a Hungarian government spokesperson, has said that this year’s Hungarian Grand Prix drew the largest ever crowds for the sporting event. Attendance has historically been good at the circuit, in part thanks to many Finnish fans who have semi-adopted the circuit as a home track. However this season also saw a big influx of Polish supporters, there to see Robert Kubica, and this has cumulated in 2008 crowds of around 10 to 15 percent larger than previous figures.

The 2009 F1 calendar will be minus the three week break that this season is currently in the middle of. The three week break, which coincides with a summer testing ban, was originally included in the calendar to give the teams some respite in the expanding F1 calendar.

Felipe Massa has revealed that at least five F1 drivers are likely to join him at his annual karting race in Brazil on November 30th.
Michael Schumacher has told the Brazilian that he will be joining him. Schumacher was the winner of last year’s even in Florianopolis.

Mexico is hoping to host a Formula One race from 2010. Jose Abed, an FIA Vice-President and Mexican racing official, has revealed that Bernie Ecclestone is likely to add two new races to the 2010 F1 calendar and he is hoping that Mexico will be one of the two tracks chosen.

Toro Rosso, Williams and Honda have revealed what they believe caused the flash fires which were seen during pit-stops at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
All three teams saw brief flash fires during one of the pit-stops and many initially thought there was a universal problem with the refuelling rig. However Honda have revealed they believe their fire was thanks to the refuelling hose not being fitted squarely onto the car.

Bridgestone have revealed the compound allocations for the last four rounds of 2008 F1 season.
Singapore, Formula One’s first ever night race, will see the super soft and soft compound; The Japanese Grand Prix will see the medium and soft compounds; Hard and medium compounds will be used at the Chinese Grand Prix; Medium and soft compounds will be taken to the final race of the season in Brazil.

The chairman and CEO of Pininfarina, Andrea Pininfarina, has died. The 51 year old was killed in a scooter accident near the company’s HQ in Cambiano, near Turin. Initial reports have suggested that a car hit Pininfarina’s Vespa during his morning commute to work.
