Rumours over Alonso’s future

The speculation over Alonso’s future continues. The Spanish driver has said that even if he parts company with McLaren at the end of the season, he will not take a sabbatical year during 2008.

After Ron Dennis recently revealed that the relationship between the team boss and his Spanish driver were decidedly frosty, Fernando Alonso refuses to be drawn on the matter saying that he will do his talking on the track.

New Spy Evidence Related to Alonso?

New evidence from the Spy saga that has come to the attention of the FIA could involve current World Champion Fernando Alonso.

The FIA announced that the board will reconvene on Sept 13th to question McLaren further, and the squad has already of being found guilty without charge being in breach of Article 151c of the international sporting code, for possession of documents that belonged to Ferrari back in July.

With the revelation that Ferrari are looking to tempt Hamilton away from McLaren, will McLaren also lose Fernando Alonso? “I can’t imagine that Alonso and Hamilton will still be together next year,” Mark Webber commented after the Hungarian Grand Prix which saw much drama in the McLaren garage.

Alonso: Death brings perspective

Just before the French Grand Prix, Emmanuel Longobardi, a friend of Fernando Alonso, was killed in a helicopter accident. Alonso has said that his friend’s death has reminded him that motorsport is not everything and that he has been left a little frozen by the news.

Alonso: Hamilton was lucky

Fernando Alonso, who now trails his team-mate in the drivers championship, has said he is not downbeat after a poor race result and has branded Hamilton’s race win as “lucky”.

FIA: McLaren under Investigation

McLaren are to be investigated following their one-two victory in the Grand Prix de Monaco yesterday. In a statement released by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile), the governing body said that they had ‘launched an investigation into incidents involving the McLaren Mercedes team at the 2007 Monaco Grand Prix in light of a possible breach of the International Sporting Code’.

Alonso: the title fight will narrow

Fernando Alonso believes that the current four-way battle for the drivers championship will not continue for the whole season, and that it will eventually come down to a battle  between just two or three of them. “At the end of the world championship, there will probably only be two or three drivers fighting for the title,” Alonso explained.
