Kubica awarded Lorenzo Bandini trophy

BMW Sauber driver Robert Kubica is the latest F1 driver to receive the annual Lorenzo Bandini trophy.

Since 1992, the award has been handed out annually to an outstanding figure from the world of racing and is awarded in memory of the racing driver who lost his life after a horrific accident at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1967.

Data from Robert Kubica’s horrific crash at Montreal has been disclosed, showing that the Polish driver survived a 75G impact.

Kubica clipped the back of Jarno Trulli’s Toyota on an overtaking attempt, before losing his front wing and going off the track. After spinning, Kubica hit the wall at 230km/h with G-forces peaking at 75G.

Doctor advises Kubica not to race at Indianapolis

Following a high speed crash in Montreal on Sunday, Kubica emerged from hospital on Monday evening having suffered only minor concussion and a sprained ankle.
