Schumacher’s dominance continues

On the second day of testing at Barcelona, Michael Schumacher continued to dominate, finishing top of the timesheets again. The retired German driver put in a fastest lap of 1:21.486, four tenths of a second ahead of McLaren’s Pedro de la Rosa.

On the last day of testing, Pedro de la Rosa picked up where he left off on Wednesday and finished top of the timesheets in Jerez. However, he was just four hundredths of a second ahead of the Ferrari of Luca Badoer.

Jerez Testing - Day 2 Round-up

McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa proved to be the man to beat on the second day of testing at Jerez. De la Rosa put in a best time of 1:19.267, over half a second faster than second placed man, Mark Webber.

Jerez Testing - Day 1 Round-up

Timo Glock finished top of the timesheets in his BMW Sauber on the first day of testing at Jerez. Glock completed 71 laps of the track with a best time of 1:20.606.

Nine teams in action on Friday

Nine Formula 1 teams out of eleven have chosen to stay on at Monza on Friday to complete an extra day of testing.

All eleven teams ran on the Thursday however torrential rain hit track during the morning session disrupting the morning sessions, whilst the afternoon session was also disturbed by a drying surface resulting in a ‘green’ track.

Monza- Day 2 Round-up

Despite only running in the afternoon session, Fernando Alonso topped the timesheets on the second day of testing at Monza. Alonso’s best lap time was a full three tenths of a second quicker that Hamiltons best with each driver putting in 49 laps.

Monza- Day 1 Round-up

On the opening day of testing at Monza, Lewis Hamilton proved to be the fastest man on the track, just edging out Kimi Raikkonen.

Hamilton was testing out an ultra low downforce wing and set a best lap of 1:24.112 early on. He suffered a minor failure during the morning when a CV join failed however the issue was soon resolved and he was able to continue testing.

Teams ponder whether to extend Monza test session

Bad weather is forecasted for this week in Monza and so Formula 1 teams are pondering whether to extend this week’s testing session or not.

BRDC vote to redevelop Silverstone

At an EGM meeting yesterday afternoon, members of the BRDC overwhelmingly voted in favour of the Club’s plans to redevelop Silverstone’s facilities.
