Gilles-Villeneuve circuit gets a make-over

The Gilles-Villeneuve circuit in Montreal, Canada, will be having a minor make-over. A government grant has been given to the track to reconstruct the paddock area with work due to be completed before the Canadian Grand Prix in June.

Singapore has the honour of being the first track to host an F1 night race during the 2008 season. Having collaborated with Singapore officials, Sepang’s chairman Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir has said that he also hopes that his race will become a night event from 2009 onwards.

Jacarepagua circuit to be demolished

The Autódromo de Jacarepaguá in Brazil is to be demolished. The circuit, also known as the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet, hosted the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix between 1978 and 1990 and more recently, held the MotoGP Brazilian Grand Prix.

Indian Race Track Decision Reached?

According to Indian media sources, Formula 1 bosses have signed a deal with an Indian company JP Associates to build a brand new track near New Delhi. It is said that the track is around 50 km east of New Delhi in an area called Greater Noida.

Shanghai International Circuit – Facts and Figures

Shanghai’s official Formula 1 circuit, the Shanghai International Circuit, was designed by F1’s resident architect, Hermann Tilke. The circuit is 3.387 miles long and features 16 corners – nine right-handers and seven left-handers. The long straight between Turns 13 and 14 is nearly three-quarters of a mile long and drivers will hit around 200mph here.
