Super Aguri make financial loss in first F1 season

In their first season of Formula 1, Super Aguri have made a loss of £4.5 million. Super Aguri have one of the smallest budgets in F1 and although the team has only posted abbreviated accounts which do not show turnover figures, it is estimated that the team only raised around $5 million in sponsorship fees in 2006. This compares to a team like Ferrari who have sponsorship deals 35 times this size. Top teams will employ up to around 1,000 staff; Super Aguri make do with around 100.

It seems Super Aguri may have to be patient and wait before they can get their hands on their 2008 car.

Super Aguri secure new sponsors

This season Super Aguri have faced financial issues when their primary sponsor SS United failed to pay the total money that had been agreed upon. This led to the Super Aguri team having to cut back on their development programme due to lack of funds.

Sato: Brake problems

Takuma Sato has revealed he had brake problems during the Grand Prix, which made for a difficult race. Sato explained that on the formation lap, he realised there was some problem, however there was no time for them to be fixed and so finished the race with the problem.

Super Aguri 2008 line-up to remain the same?

Super AguriSuper Aguri have said they are keen to keep their driver line-up unchanged for the 2008 season. Takuma Sato has been a strong performer for the team this season, collecting 4 points for the team, and is strongly tipped to retain his seat.

No bad feeling between Trulli and Fisichella

It’s the second year in a row that Giancarlo Fisichella has caused chaos at the Turkish Grand Prix. Last year he had a spin; this year, he hit the back of Jarno Trulli’s Toyota, spinning him around at the first corner of the race.

Super Aguri take SS United to Court

Super Aguri have started legal proceedings against main sponsor SS United over claims that the company have failed to pay all the promised sponsorship money.

The oil and gas company struck a deal with the Super Aguri team on the eve of the first race of the season in Australia. The first sponsorship payment was paid on time, but according to Super Aguri, no further instalments of the sponsorship monies were forthcoming.

Super Aguri will build own car

Super Aguri fans rejoice – it appears that next season, Super Aguri will not be inheriting the terrible RA107 car from Honda and will instead be building their own car.

Beaver upsets Davidson

Super AguriBritish driver Anthony Davidson has blamed the local wildlife for costing him a points finish at the Canadian Grand Prix. Davidson was running in third place behind the safety car when a beaver ran across the track. Davidson clipped the animal damaging his front wing. He then came into the pits to the surprise of his team.
