Toyota redesign suspension

Toyota F1 CarToyota have redesigned their front suspension after it caused them several problems at Montreal. Jarno Trulli suffered two identical suspension failures during the weekend, forcing his pit crew to make some setup compromises during the race.

The team’s 100% reliability record for 2007 ended when both Trulli and Schumacher had to retire. The only consolation for the team was that Trulli showed a flash of pace in qualifying.

Tsutomu Tomita to stand down

ToyotaTsutomu Tomita will stand down from his role as Chairman and Team Principal of Toyota at the end of June 2007. He will be replaced by Tadashi Yamashina, who is Toyota’s current Motorsport Vice Chairman.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that Formula 1 drivers really don’t need to be all that fit. They just have to turn up for twenty or so weekends a year, drive a car, then go home and revel in their healthy bank balances.

Lauda on Toyota

ToyotaNiki Lauda has spoken out about why he thinks that Toyota, despite having one of the biggest budgets in Formula One, have failed so far to produce a race winning car. “Logically, it it isn’t money, there can only be one explanation,” he said. “Their people are simply not good enough.”

Schumacher is downbeat

ToyotaUncharacteristically, Ralf Schumacher has spoken out against his TF107 car saying that “we have had a catastrophic preparation for this season.”

Toyota have not had a good time in pre-season testing, with the car only outpacing the backmarkers of Spyker, Toro Rosso and Super Aguri. The car has not got enough grip through the corners, is unreliable, and hasn’t got enough straight-line speed.

Toyota deal to signal F1’s move to India?

On the back of Kingfisher Airlines’ massive sponsorship deal with Toyota, rumours have emerged that the investment may provide the impetus for an Indian Grand Prix, with potentially, the first race kicking off in Delhi in 2009.

TF107 is unveiled
