ESPNF1:
Ex-Formula One driver Robert Kubica claimed a podium finish on his Renault Sport Trophy debut at Spa-Francorchamps at the weekend.
The former BMW and Renault F1 driver took third place in Saturday's endurance race alongside Christophe Hamon in Duqueine Engineering's Renault R.S.01, before finishing fourth in the Pro sprint race on Sunday.
A late charge in the final 17 laps of Saturday's race at Spa - the same track at which Kubica claimed his final F1 podium in 2010 - saw the Pole rise from sixth to take the chequered flag in third, six seconds adrift of race winners Raoul Owens and Frederik Blomstedt.
Having run as-high-as third in Sunday's sprint, Kubica eventually dropped to fourth when former Lotus F1 test driver Kevin Korjus completed a successful pass at Les Combes.
Kubica had his five-year F1 career cut short following a rally crash ahead of the 2011 season, in which he sustained severe injuries to his right forearm.
After a lengthy period of rehabilitation, the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix winner returned to motorsport in the World Rally Championship in 2013. The Renault Sport Trophy event was Kubica's latest circuit racing appearance, following the 12 Hours of Mugello in March.
